Anna (Prins) Vander Broek

Anna (Prins) Vander Broek, 99, of Chandler died on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, MN.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral  Home in Chandler, MN.  Visitation will continue for one hour at 9:00 AM on Friday, October 16, at the Funeral Home.  Interment will be prior to the service at the Chandler Memorial Cemetery, Chandler, MN.  Service will begin at 11:00 AM at the Chandler Christian Reformed Church, Chandler.

Anna Vander Broek was born on April 20, 1916 to Peter and Johanna (Van Surksum) Prins in Moulton Township, Nobles County.  She attended Leota Christian School and was a member of Chandler Christian Reformed Church.

On January 14, 1939 Anna was united in marriage to Gerrit Vander Broek in Leota, Minnesota.  After marriage, they moved from Minnesota to Michigan to California and eventually moved back to Minnesota where they retired in Chandler, Minnesota.  On July 10, 1995 Gerrit passed away and in 2003, Anna became a resident of the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton where she passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at the age of 99.

Anna enjoyed crocheting, playing the organ, and playing games with family and friends.

She is survived by her children Wendale (Lavonne) Vander Broek of Chandler, Joellen (Gerrit) Doppenberg of Sioux Falls, SD, and Larae (Ben) Steensma of Luverne; sisters-in-law Dorothy (Henry) Prins of Edgerton, and Maureen (John) Prins of Sanborn, IA; 12 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, many extended family including their foster children, Bruce (Verla) Kreun, Audrey (Vincent) Wells, Glenda (Dave) Rowley, Phil (Lynn) Kreun and Clyde (Gwen) Kreun, the William Kreun children.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gerrit, infant son Arnell, grandson Delwyn Doppenberg, infant great grandson Jeremy Nibbelink, six brothers, and five sisters.
