Carol Jean (Hart) Groen

Carol Jean Groen , 70, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at her home near Chandler.  Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM with interment immediately following.  No other services will be held.

C arol Jean Groen was born on May 17, 1944 to Fred and Effie (Vande Brake) Hart.  She grew up on her family’s farm near Iona, Minnesota.  Carol attended the public school in Chandler, Minnesota and graduated in May of 1963.

She was united in marriage on November 22, 1963 to Peter Groen.  They started their lives together on the Groen family farm near Chandler, MN where she enjoyed her days lending a helping hand.  Carol cherished the many hours spent with her ever-growing family.  She enjoyed her chickens, gardens, bird feeding, and Gator rides with Ginger (her red heeler mix dog).  Everyone savored her home-cooked meals, fantastic chocolate chip cookies, and Purple Ribbon fresh baked bread!

Carol was a dedicated student in her studies of the King James Bible.  She was a strong Christian role-model to those close to her and shared her faith through her love, kindness and generosity.

She passed away on Saturday morning, October 11, 2014, at her home at the age of 70.

Carol will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her husband Peter of 50 years, their two sons,  Mitch and Amber Groen, Canby, MN, Dan Groen and Irene Klehr, Belle Plaine, MN; two daughters, Brenda and Scott Meyer, Dennison, MN and Patti and Rod Van Essen, Edgerton, MN;  10 grandchildren, Ashley and Ryan Parish, McCall Groen, Matthew Groen, Sarah & Justin Olsen, Carolyn Meyer, Abby Meyer, Latrisha and Greg Kooiker, Chace Hulstein, Joseph Van Essen and Maelyn Van Essen; 7 great-grandchildren, Mariel Parish, Callie Parish, Ella Olsen, Owen Olsen, Tylee Kooiker, Hudson Kooiker and Tayton Kooiker.
