Edward J. Heard age 56, of Woodstock, MN died Monday, July 12, 2010 at his home. Services will be 10:30 AM Friday, July 16, 2010 at St Martin’s Catholic Church in Woodstock, MN. Visitation will be 4:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday, July 15, 2010 also held at St Martin’s Catholic Church and continuing one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be at St Martin’s Cemetery in Woodstock, MN. The Chandler Funeral Association of Chandler, MN is handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be placed at www.almliefh.com
Edward Joseph Heard was born December 17, 1953 to Marvin and Laura (Cullen) Heard in Slayton, MN, Murray County. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and attended country school as a young boy. He then attended Woodstock Elementary School and graduated from Pipestone High School in 1971. As a youth he worked as a farmhand for local farmers and started farming with his father and brothers when he finished school.
On May 29, 1976 Edward married Brenda S. Wynia in Slayton, MN. They made their home near Woodstock, where Ed was a dairy farmer. He enjoyed Case/IH tractors, registered Holstein cattle, gardening, his many farm cats, dancing and Texas Hold’em Poker. Ed was a member of St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Woodstock and served two years on the church counsel in the past.
Monday, July 12, 2010 Edward died at his home at the age of 56.
Edward is survived by his one daughter, Kimberly (Jeremy) Winter of Slayton, MN; two sons, Derrick (Carmen) Heard of Cannon Falls, MN and Jeffrey (Christine) Heard of Chaska, MN; his parents, Marvin and Laura Heard of Woodstock, MN; one sister, Carol (Robert) Ratliff of Watertown, SD; three brothers, Leslie Heard of Rapid City, SD, Daryl Heard and Dale (Teresa) Heard both of Woodstock, MN; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
His maternal grandparents, Joseph and Francis Cullen and his paternal grandparents, Dale and Ruth Heard preceded him in death.
