Gary Ronald Vande Brake

Gary Ronald Vande Brake, 70, of Chandler passed away on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013 at the Sanford-Luverne Medical Center.  A memorial service will be held at the Chandler Funeral Chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2013.

Gary Ronald Vande Brake was born February 27, 1942 to Jacob and Gertrude (De Raad) Vande Brake in Woodstock, MN, Pipestone County.  He attended Chandler schools and later graduated from Artesia High School in California.

On December 14, 1962 Gary married Janice Romberg in California and they made their home in Norwalk, CA.  He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Van Diest & Sons Construction and then Harper’s Backhoe Rental until his retirement in 2005.  That same year he and Janice moved to Chandler, MN.

He enjoyed the quiet of country life and raising peacocks, cats and dogs but especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

On Saturday, February 16, 2013 Gary died at the Sanford-Luverne Medical Center, Luverne, MN at the age of 70.

Gary is survived by his wife, Janice Vande Brake of Chandler, MN; son, Randy Vande Brake of Norco, CA; daughter, Trudy (Frank) Robinson of Chandler, MN, daughter-in-law Laurie Vande Brake of Lakewood, CA; seven grandchildren, Katelyn, Trevor, and Madison Vande Brake and Payton, Hanna, Kendall and Frankie Robinson; one great-grandson, Devon Davis; one sister, Henrietta Eernisse of Edgerton, MN; four brothers,Duane (Ora) Vande Brake of KY, Larence (Alice) Vande Brake of CA, Vernon Vande Brake of CA, and Melvin (Dee) of NV; sister-in-law, Grace Vande Brake of CA; nieces, nephews and friends.

His parents, one son, Ronald, four brothers, Orvil, John (Grace), Dewey (Cornelia) and Jake (Arlis) Vande Brake, sister, Margaret (Tony) Veld and one brother-in-law, John Eernisse preceded him in death.
