Gertrude (Peters) Prins

Gertrude Prins , age 84 of  Chandler, MN passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, MN.  Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at the Chandler Christian Reformed Church in Chandler.  Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of service at the church on Tuesday.  Burial will be in the Chandler Memorial Cemetery.

Gertrude Prins was born on October 14, 1929 to John and Tillie (Jelgerhuis) Peters on a farm near Leota, Minnesota.  She was baptized at the Leota Christian Reformed Church and confessed her faith at the Chandler Christian Reformed Church and attended Chandler Public Schools.

On July 8, 1948, Gertrude was united in marriage to Peter Prins at the Chandler Christian Reformed Church in Chandler.  They made their home in Chandler where Gertrude was a housewife and also worked at the Huisken Grocery Store in Chandler.  She was a charter member of the Willing Workers Society of the Christian School and a member of the Sunshine Guild Ladies Aide.

Gertrude enjoyed flowers and going for drives.

Gertrude passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton at the age of 84 years old.

She is survived by her children, Allen (Sue) Prins of Chandler, MN Gary (Charlene) Prins of Pipestone, MN, David (Dianne) Prins of Pipestone, MN, Robert (Faith) Prins of Chandler, and Kayleen (Greg) Dyk of New Era, MI; siblings, Geneva Peters of Chandler, MN and John (Caroline) Peters of Charles City, IA; 18 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Eileen (Willard) Sankey, Edgerton, MN and Joann (Theodore “Bud”) Van Peursem; Leota, MN; brothers-in-law, Carl Reitsma, Edgerton, MN, and Daryl "Butch" Prins, Sioux Falls, SD and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother, Harris John, husband, Peter, two sisters, Jo Halbersma, and Harriet Reitsma, and an infant great granddaughter, Sailor Prins.
