Julia Lavina (Noethe) Johnson passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne, MN.
Julia Lavina Noethe was born on October 20, 1933 in Holly Township of Murray County, MN to William and Tilde (Knudsen) Noethe. Julia was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy, MN. She grew up near Tracy, MN and the surrounding area. Julia attended Tracy School and graduated from Tracy High School in 1950. After graduation, she spent two years working for NSP in Tracy.
On October 16, 1953, she married the love of her life, Melvin Johnson, at Zion Lutheran Church and they made Slayton, MN their home. Julia spent her life raising her children. She loved red roses, baking, and spending time with family, especially her granddaughter and great-granddaughters.
Julia entered the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne, MN in 2013 where she enjoyed many visits from family. She passed away peacefully on October 28, 2023, after celebrating her 90th birthday.
Julia is lovingly remembered by her husband, Melvin of 70 years; two children: Allen Johnson of Slayton, MN and James (Jim) Johnson of Slayton; one brother: James (Louise) Noethe of Bloomington, MN; one granddaughter: Karla (Ryan) Bottelberghe; two great-granddaughters: Mary and Jamie Bottelberghe and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Alice Swenson, Thomas Noethe, Benny Noethe, Leona Simpson and Tronnie Atwood; In-laws: Benny Swenson; Barb Noethe; Ginnie Noethe, Les Simpson and Russell Atwood.
A Time of Fellowship will be held prior to the service on Friday, November 3, 2023 at 9:30AM at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton, MN with a Memorial Service to follow beginning at 10:30AM. A burial will be held at a later date.
