June Geraldine Lockwood was born on October 10, 1926 to Frank and May (Heitbrink) De Vries at Firth, NE. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and graduated from high school. After graduation June taught in the country school, where Harold would come and help her.
On August 28, 1947 June was united in marriage to Harold Lockwood in Firth. They made their home in Brewster, MN for a few years and eventually settled on a farm near Chandler, MN where they remained until entering the Golden Living Center in Slayton, MN.
June was a member of the Chandler Reformed Church where she was active in the RCW, and helped where she could. She was also a member of the Chandler Senior Citizens, Chandler American Legion Auxiliary and TOPS organizations. June loved music, playing the piano by ear, playing the accordion and singing with her family. She also loved to garden and help on the farm where they raised their four sons. After the boys were grown, they still enjoyed having a large garden, so they could share with anyone that might need fresh vegetables. But most of all June enjoyed spending time with her family and most importantly, her faith in Jesus Christ.
On Thursday, August 25, 2016 June passed away peacefully at the Golden Living Center at the age of 89 years old.
Grateful for having shared in June’s life is son, Rodney (Chikako) Lockwood of Palatine, IL, and daughters-in-law, Becky Lockwood, Green Dale, WI, Linda Lockwood, Balaton, MN, and Janet Lockwood, Mound MN; "adopted" son, Art (Liz) Rosenberg, Excelsior, MN; sister, Dorothy (Bob) Eggers, Centerville, Ohio; brother, Mel De Vries, South Holland, IL; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
