Sandra Lynn (Pierce) South

Sandra Lynn South, 66 of Chandler, Minnesota died on Friday, October 24, 2014 at her home in Chandler.  Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Chandler Memorial Cemetery.

Sandra was born on January 24, 1948 in Inglewood, California and was the only child of O.L. Pierce and Joan C. (Marr) Pierce.   She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and later became a member of the Baptist Church.  She graduated from Houston High School in Houston, Mississippi, and received an Associate Degree in Accounting from Mississippi State University.  She was employed in California as an accountant for twelve years.

She married David South on May 15, 1982 in California; after they were married they moved to Georgia where they lived for 21 years.  There Sandy became foster “MOM” to 34 children.  Dave and Sandy adopted one of the children, Michelle, in 2002.  They moved to Chandler, Minnesota in 2006.

Sandy enjoyed playing Rook with friends and family, gardening, especially her flowers, "playing" on the internet and working on computers of any kind, since she worked so much on them in California.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Dave; two daughters, Christie (Malon “Stacy”) Lee of Toccoa, GA, Michelle South of Luverne, MN and one son John P. (Carol) Cullom, Social Circle, GA, ten grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, and her best friend, Hedwig Schmitke, of Chandler, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one grandson, Christian Pierce Cullom.
